Post-Operative Instructions
Thank you for trusting Orange Premier Dental with your treatment. Following the instructions below will help you heal comfortably and avoid complications. If you experience unusual pain, swelling, or anything concerning, please contact us immediately.
General Instructions
- Numbness, mild discomfort, and slight swelling around the treated area are normal.
- Avoid touching, poking, or putting pressure on the area.
- Do not consume hot foods/drinks or use a straw for the first 24 hours.
- Brush and floss gently at the end of the day, avoiding the treated area if it feels sensitive.
- Avoid smoking and alcohol for at least 48 hours, as they can delay healing and increase infection risk.
Specific Procedure Instructions
Crowns / Bridges / Inlays / Onlays
- If you received a temporary restoration, be gentle while chewing. If it breaks or comes off, please keep the pieces and contact us.
- Some sensitivity to hot/cold or pressure is normal for a few days.
- Brush and floss normally but gently around the treated tooth.
Tooth Extraction
- Bite firmly on the gauze for 1 hour after the extraction. If bleeding continues, replace with a new gauze and hold for another 45 minutes.
- Use a cold compress on the cheek near the extraction site: 10 minutes on, 5 minutes off.
- For the first 24 hours, avoid hot food/drinks, smoking, spitting, using a straw, or vigorous rinsing.
- Eat soft foods for the next 1–2 days.
- If you experience prolonged bleeding, severe pain, or signs of infection, contact us right away.
Gum Surgery / Dental Implants
- Apply a cold compress on the area in intervals (10 minutes on, 5 minutes off).
- Slight numbness or looseness in nearby teeth is normal and temporary.
- Do NOT brush the surgical area for a few days; clean the rest of your mouth normally.
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, straws, and spitting.
Root Canal Treatment
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until your permanent crown is placed.
- Mild soreness or sensitivity is normal for a few days.
- Brush and floss gently around the tooth.
When to Call Us Immediately
Contact us if you notice:
- Heavy or persistent bleeding
- Pus or foul taste
- Fever or signs of infection
- Swelling that gets worse after 2–3 days
