The Benefits of Dental Crowns

When it comes to dental restoration, dental crowns are an effective method of restoring smiles and resolving dental damage.

  • Dental crowns surround and protect the tooth. As such, they’re able to secure even the most damaged teeth and restore normal function to the mouth.
  • Dental crowns allow you to eat your favorite foods without fear of discomfort.
  • Dental crowns can reduce oral sensitivity and resolve pain in damaged teeth.

What to Expect During the Dental Crown Procedure

While nobody looks forward to having their wisdom teeth removed, our team can help make it as quick and painless as possible. Come see us today and find out why we’re the Orange, CA, dentist your friends and neighbors choose.

You’ll start with teeth whitening

If you’re getting dental crowns for cosmetic reasons, we recommend whitening your teeth first. Since dental crowns are made from stain- and bleach-resistant materials, any crowns that are crafted to match yellow teeth will stay that way forever. If you whiten your teeth beforehand, you’ll enjoy a dazzling smile for years to come.

You should take a day off work

As you prepare for your Orange, CA, dental crown procedure, we recommend taking a day off work. While the dental crown procedure is relatively painless, it’s normal for teeth to be a bit sore in the hours following your procedure, and it’s easier if you don’t have to worry about keeping up at work.

A cosmetic dentist will install your crowns

Working with a cosmetic dentist like Dr. Elgamal at Orange Premier Dental is the best way to get beautiful, natural-looking dental crowns. At Orange Premier Dental, we provide stunning cosmetic dentistry procedures while working to keep our patients as comfortable as possible with sedation dentistry. Before getting started with your dental crowns, we’ll take an impression of your teeth so we can create your new crown in the dental lab.

The process is quick

The first step in placing a dental crown is to prepare the tooth. Here at Orange Premier Dental, we start by removing a portion of the enamel to make space for the new crown to surround the tooth without pushing other teeth out of place.Once we’ve prepared the tooth, we’ll clean it and use removable glue to secure a temporary crown.

The permanent crown comes later

Patients typically wear a temporary crown for two weeks while we craft permanent crowns in our lab. During this time, be careful eating and brushing your teeth since these temporary crowns can come off. When you come back to our office two weeks after your temporary crown application, we will remove this crown and secure the permanent cap around the tooth.Using dental bonding, we’ll secure the crown permanently to your teeth. You may experience some sensitivity following the procedure, but you will be able to eat and drink as normal.
